IKEA at Tampines

We dropped by Ikea Tampines on Sunday evening as my sisters wanted to get something from there. Its much bigger than the Queenstown branch and I like going to Ikea to look at those colourful and nice bedroom, kitchen settings etc. They really have nice designs but then the furniture do not really last in my opinion.
Amanda had a fun time running all over the place. She even made two friends there. One little baby whom Amanda keep walking over to peer over into the stroller to look at him/her. Another is an Indian baby girl who is abt the same age as her. The Indian girl keeps wanting to hug Amanda and Amanda would step back. Quite a funny sight seeing the two babies mingling.
Unfortuntately, Mummy din take any pics that day cos
1. Mummy was simply too exhausted taking care of Amanda the whole morning till afternoon alone and whipping up two meals for Amanda.
2. Mummy was in a bad mood haha
Nevertheless, Amanda and Ikea's $1 hotdog bun cheered me up at the end of the day. Too bad din get to eat the meatballs and chicken wings. Yum yum.... now I am getting hungry again haha.

Yishun Safra

Was telling Daddy that my back is breaking and I wanted to go for a massage at Yishun Safra recommended by Phyllis. Sat evening, Daddy brought us there but I din go for the massage lahbut just to check out where the spa is. Can't remember when was the last time I went there. Think it was way before we gotten married. Anyway, its quite a nice place with big pools all that suitable for family. Daddy was taken aback that each adult have to pay $3 plus to swim in the pool.

"paradise" view of the pool from second floor

Amanda running around with her exposed diaper hahah

More pics. Aunty Phyllis would love seeing this ahahaha OOpps

Amanda was afraid to walk on the pebbled floor. She crossed over the pebbled lane with hands followed by legs over.

Visit to Great Grandma's place (My mum's mum)

Its been sometime since we last visited Great Grandma. Used to see her almost every week when my mum and sis were staying a stone's throw away. Mum asked me to visit her on Sunday as its also been 1 mth plus since she last saw Amanda.
What is Amanda eating on the train?
..
....
......

.........
Rasins!!! Eating so openly! Later kena fine ah!

Amanda walking to Great Grandma's place

Giving her long lost friend a long lost Bite! Poor Roo!
As usual, she entertained everyone with her different "patterns and stunts". One of the most hilarious moment was when she copied Great grandma's action and laughter when Great Grandma was chatting enthusiastically with Amanda's Granduncle about her fall.
Mummy has a query:- My wai por is Amanda's great grandma
My Por por is also Amanda's great grandma
My husband por por is also also Amanda's great grandma
My husband's wai por is also also also Amanda's great grandma
Can we distinguish them? Maternal? Paternal?

YAO BU YAO

Did I mention? Amanda's first word seems to be "bu yao" and "mai ah mai" --- meaning don't want in Chinese and Hokkien respectively. Quite amused by it.
Recently, she changed to everything also "yao" meaning want. Probably, its more beneficial to say "yao" ba cos she can get what she want when she say "yaoooooo".
Its cute to hear her say "yao' until you hear it dozens of times everyday and especially if she woke up a few times a night and saying "yao" but you do not know what she "yao" and she will throw her temper. Sometimes, I really don't know if I should laugh or cry.
Maybe I should try to record down her "yao" voice and load it here.

Another Saturday (23/03/09)

Its Sat again. Brought Amanda to LNT for her last Chinese lesson for the term. Last week's was the last Jap class for the term. The remark from Japanese teacher was that Amanda seems to enjoy the class (cos she always shake when teacher sing) and that she seems to be talking more and more. The Chinese teacher remark was she was attentive in her class and that she seems to want to talk (i.e. Amanda babbles in class). Shall see what the English teacher's comment is this coming Sat.

Anyway, after class, brought Amanda around Toa payoh for a walk as we will be meeting Daddy at Novena at 2 plus.Wanted to bring her to library but she fell asleep. Normally, she will sleep after class. Guess its mentally tiring after 1 hr of class. Ended up I pushed her around and went "shopping" for Quinoa (recommended by Crystal). Glad to find it at NTUC finally. Wanted to have lunch, but decided to wait till her feeding time so that can settle all at one go and also Toa payoh is too crowded. Prefer to go Novena to have lunch and feed her.

Finally, she woke up and I brought her to the library at Toa payoh.Been to Ang mo kio and Yishun one. Like Yishun one so far. Toa payoh one is really bad. The floor has no carpet for the babies section. The floor is those hard concrete floor. Worst still, there are steps at that area. Not safe at all and I struggle with Amanda plus the stroller. Anyway, we only stayed a while before leaving for Novena.

Looking at books?

More like Kaypohing at other people though!

At Novena foodcourt, put her in high chair and feed her lunch. Lucky she finish all and is relatively cooperative.

After meeting Daddy, we went to Suntec for the food fair. Lucky Amanda was asleep while we were eating. Walk around and went home.

Its a super tiring day for me as I was out the whole day (no lunch) and handling her all by myself for half a day with a big bag cum stroller and nowadays she dun like to sit in stroller except when she is sleepy! Any recommendation/tips for going out alone with a toddler?

The Good and the Bad experience

Good experience

On Sunday, we went dinner at Siang Hee restaurant at Zion Rd. The Zi Char is really not bad and the dishes are quite different from the usual dishes we have for Zi Char and the price is reasonable. My favourite got to be the crispy pig trotter. Yummy!

We had the dishes in the website listed above aha think my hubby ordered the popular dishes thats why. Damage is about $52 for 5 dishes.

Bad experience

After dinner, we went to Silver furniture to look for furniture cos Mum still needs to get a few more items. We bought from there before when we were getting married that time and my aunite also had good experience there when she bought her furnitures from there recently. We were assisited by a friendly auntie who was complaining she missed out on a 4 D number that came out that night. The place is quite big with few storeys and I think my mum and sis would like to get something from there but then we realised we still have to pay additional GST and transport on each items which was not included in the price listed. The auntie said the price is fixed all that.

After having in mind a few items that they would like to get, I casually asked the auntie if the price really cannot be lowered? Other places will waive off transport charges and GST and somemore we are getting quite a number of items. And i added that when i bought from them 2 years ago, the person who assisted us gave us some discounts.

Immediately, her face turned black and became aggressive. She said I could go and find that person and if I don't believe, she can call the manager who will let us know about their no discount policy. She went to the phone and either she is pretending to call the manager or she could not get the manager. She slam down the phone came to us and we decided thats it, we are leaving, not going to buy from her with this kind of "siao" attitude and she pointed to someone outside and said he is the manager, we can ask him. I think its most likely to be her colleague or what. Anyway whatever it is, we would not want to buy anything from there with this kind of attitude. I think its silly of them, cos by lowering margin, they could have close off the deal and increase sales in this kind of economy.

Anyway can't be bothered with her, its her loss not ours. So bosses, do be aware of your staff's attitude as its the determining factor whether your customers buy from you or not and reputation is important.

Shopping!

Met up with my mum and sis on Saturday afternoon. Initally, we only intended to jalan jalan at the neighbourhood, but I braved being in shorts, tees and sandals to Orchard Road! Super unglam. Well, my sis said I could pretend to be living in Orchard area. ahhaha But I think those in Orchard area will not dressed the way I do to go shopping! Anyway hackcare!
We bought mainly bedsheets and quilts at Robinson and Aussino.
My damage was only 1 set of Queen size bedsheet, 2 sets of pillow cases and 1 fleece blanket for Amanda. Not much right haha but Daddy already nagged. Maybe he should read Mummy Pauline and Mummy Esther's damage then he will know mine is peanuts haha.
Some pics taken

Egg Phobia!

Saturday, MIL cooked porridge and added in egg yolk plus a bit of the egg white and kept in the tiger jar. She fed Amanda during lunch and I brought the remaining out for dinner as I was meeting my mum and sis.
That afternoon, she can't finish her milk and in the evening, she only ate a few mouth of the porridge and vomitted a bit. When I reached home, she vomitted again and this time all over the floor, cupboard and onto my clothes and hers. Poor thing. Haizzz, really dunno what's wrong. I tasted the porridge, seems okie. MIL asked whats wrong and I said it should be the porridge cos got egg (She vomiited before when she ate porridge with egg for dinner again). She said when she fed her always okie! ( I am a bit offended cos she always told me Amanda will always finish porridge when she fed her and Amanda never vomit when she fed her etc).
The next day, Sunday she cooked porridge and added egg white again!! I was a bit annoyed and frustrated. Anyway, she feed her for lunch and I told MIL that I am not going to feed her that for dinner again cos I really have phobia now. So, I ate Amanda's porridge that was meant for dinner and recooked her porridge.
I find that we always cook the same thing for porridge. Wonder if Amanda is also sick of them already. Any receipes to share anyone?

First time outing with great grandparents

We did not really have plans for Sunday. Intially we wanted to go to JB but Daddy thoughts it school holiday and feared that there might be jam at the Causeway. So in the morning, we just went out for brunch. Guess what we have??? Hint: Daddy's craving

....

........

.......................

Yes! Its Pek Kio Prawn Mee!!! Try it next time if you go there. The soup is nice!

Then in the afternoon, we visited Amanda's great grandparents at Ang Mo Kio. Brought them out for dinner together with Amanda's ah ma at this Thai restaurant at Chong Pang next to KFC. The food is good and cheap. Always long queue but the waiting time is okie.

Playing with camera's cover while Daddy examined the bill
Did not manage to take pics cos I felt awkward clicking the camera in front of ah ma and ah gong. After dinner, we had a walk at Chong Pang and bought some durains for Amanda's great grandma who complained she had not eaten for long time! hhaha overall I think its a fruitful afternoon and evening as it made the elders really happy.

Furniture Hunting

I have mentioned earlier that my mum and sis are shifting. As they need to get some furniture and Amanda seemed to be okie after resting and sleeping the whole of Friday, we arranged to go to Sungei Kadut to look for furnitures there on Sat after Amanda's class at LNT.
While waiting for Amanda's Wai Por at Kranji MRT station, Amanda entertained her Ah yis.

"Ah yi, where is wai por?"

Singing session

Singing non-stop

"Hey ah yi u taking photograph of me?"

"Aiyo, why wai por still not here?"

"Lets sing again, if you are happy and you know it clap your hand"

"I saw Wai Por!, she is here!"

There are about 30 furniture shops at Sungei Kadut. However, we could only managed to cover about 5 shops and were all exhausted.

"I want to go there, that bed looks good"

Helping wai por to save $$ by changing the price tag

"so many furniture! "
The purple and white riding hood. They all look drunk and high don't they? hahaa
See my little teeth?
"hmm decision making time"
The "gung ho" look
At the end of day, they managed to buy 2 sets of bed with mattresses before we call it a day as our tummy were rumbling. Daddy had cravings for Pek Kio market prawn mee (we just ate yesterday) and drove all the way there but it was closed. In the end, we ended up in a coffee shop having Zi Char and the Ahsam curry fish was good! Yum Yum!
