On Leave- Friday 22/05/09

I was on leave on Friday as Amanda had an appointment for her MMR jab. I have planned to delay this jab but was still told to go down for my appointment for the nurse to assess. It also happened that Amanda was having fever so I thought might as well see the doc at the same time. The polyclinic was taking precaution against the swine flu. All the people entering the polyclinic have to fill in a form and the data was recorded in some database. Temperature was taken and a sticker given to indicate if you are clear of fever (green sticker) or having fever (red sticker). Upon taking Amanda's temperature, the person's eyes turned wide and gave me a shock look after measuring her temperature and told me " She got fever!" . I just told her flatly "yeah, she has fever" and was thinking to myself, do they need to panick like that? Well, anyway, spoken to the doc and enquired from her if its possible to delay the jab till much later. According to her, polyclinic could allow latest by 2 years old. Any older will have to be taken at private clinic. I guess I shall see how it goes then. Will wait till Amanda is able to speak well before letting her take the jab as advised by Ade and also to make sure she is completely alright with eggs.

After seeing doc, Daddy drove to Singapore Expo for the Crocs sale! I was so surprised that he wanted to go as I have intended to go myself if I have time that afternoon/if not forget it as I knew/heard about the horrendous queue last year. Well, when we reached there at 10.30 (the sale started at 10am), the queue was all the way till the MRT station. But overall, the queueing was still ok and it was moving quite fast. It was more chaotic inside the sales area where shoes are flying off the shelves! As Daddy had to work that afternoon, he asked me to stay on and shopped around while he drove Amanda back home before going to work. You really have to go early cos the popular design and sizes run out very fast. Its a bit disappointing in this sense.

Our Loots!

Amanda's existing crocs with new Jitbits!
When I reached home with the big bag of crocs, I quickly took Amanda's temperature and was relieved that her fever was gone. It was already 2pm then and I have actually made an appointment with hair salon at 2pm. So I quickly set off for the salon and had my "mop of hair" tamed and reached home only at 7.30pm. Measured Amanda's temperature again, the fever was gone and she was active. Phew!
Ohh what a tiring day!

First Fall

Amanda has fallen countless times but this is the first time she fell that has a lot of blood oozing out...... but strangely not a single sound from her. No cries, nothing.......

Injuried Amanda.
Well, Daddy brought her onto the ambulance to bandage the wound. There is an ambulance stationed at Marina Barrage. The so called bandage is just two lousy pieces of plaster which don't stick well. The plasters were gone even before we left Marina Barrage due to Amanda's "itchy hand"

Tiring Sunday- Farms Visit and More

SIL stayed overnight over the weekend. Amanda was having a lot of fun cos she simply loves to play with other children.
In the morning, she went swimming with her two cousins.

In the afternoon, we went to several farms:-

At Qian Hu fish farm. She was excited about the disturbing the fish haha but was scared of those huge fish.

We also went to Farmmart. Did not take much pic there.

"Mummy, the weather is so hot!"

We checked out the new D'Kranji farm resort. http://www.dkranji.com.sg/
Not very fun for me or maybe its the weather. But I do find the plantation interesting and a good place to learn about how maybe a water melon plant look like. First time I saw water melon plant too!

Marina Barrage 16/05/09

We visited Marina Barrage on Saturday evening with MIL, SIL and her two daughters. It is a really nice place with wonderful views minus the hot weather!

Amanda with her two cousins at the entrance.

Daddy with Amanda. What a nice view!

Some random shots of Amanda.

The 2 sisters at Solar Park

Some waterplay! But too bad, we did not bring extra clothing

Steamboat dinner at "7th Storey".

Free coke!

The entrance during the night when we were leaving

Mothers' Day

This is my second mothers' day with Amanda. Last year, she was still a tiny 2 mths plus baby. Now she is already a toddler!

No major celebration for this day. Actually there isn't a need to. But we just have dinner at Dian Xiao Er that day with my mum and sisters.

Before leaving for Dian Xiao Er.......

Tie up her hair to amuse myself ahhaa. Well, she was quite cooperative. I guess that her mothers' day gift for me.

Family shoes

Finally collected our crocs! Daddy was surprised he has a pair too! In fact he was very happy while Amanda kept looking at my shoes and hers. But after a while, she just threw them aside. Haizzz.

Amanda at Wedding

Just received these two pics from Phyllis. These were taken at her wedding in Nov 08. Compare to now, she has grown so much in less than half a year!

The Long Weekend

Friday-1st May

The long weekend passed by really fast. Miss Amanda was down with fever since Wednesday night. The fever comes and goes but temperature is always around 38++ degrees. On Friday morning, we decided to bring her to see the doc. Brought her to KKH, all visitors have to have their temperature taken all that due to the swine flu. There were a lot of people! Also because of the swine flu, they have set up a fever zone. Kids with fever have to wait in that area. Although it was a long wait but generally Amanda was very cooperative. It was a breeze feeding her medicine and the nurse was surprised. Even pricking her finger and squeezing out her blood for the blood test was completed without a single sound/struggle from her. We have to wait at least an hour for the blood test. Luckily, everything was fine. It was just viral fever. As Amanda was still quite active, we decided to go for lunch before heading home. Daddy brought us to Aljunied Ave 2 Blk 119 I think for some dim sum. The lotus glutinous rice and a fried banana with prawn was really yummy!

In the evening, MIL offered to look after Amanda while we went out for dinner. Its been such a long time since we have time to "pak tor". We went to the newly opened Japanese foodcourt at northpoint. All are Japanese food and at foodcourt price. I find the food not bad and pricing reasonable. Its nice and refreshing concept.
Saturday-2nd May
Saturday morning, I measured Amanda's temperature. Her fever seemed to be gone and she was quite active. Also received an sms from LNT centre to measure our kids temperature before bringing them for class. Anyone having fever will not be allowed to attend lesson. This time round, its really a 1-1 lesson as nobody turned up! I was so surprised. Maybe due to swine flu?
After lesson, we headed to kitchener road for some famous mutton soup. Its yummy! Its just opposite the famous scissor curry rice.
In the evening, we had Thai food at Jal Thai located at Jalan Pemimpin. Its our second time there. I must say its really value for money for some authentic Thai food.
Amanda was well. Fever was gone but her cough seems to get worse after she took the cough medicine....
Sunday - 3rd May
In the morning, we sent MIL to SengKang as she wanted to go to SIL place. After sending her off, we headed to Punggol Plaza for some brunch. Walked around there for a while.

Amanda "learning how to play" She really look like a boy in the oversized Liverpool jersey...............
Thereafter, we went to my mum place before leaving to visit my grandma. We also went to West Coast Plaza which was newly opened. It used to be called Ginza Plaza. There is really nothing much there and pretty quiet too on a Sunday afternoon. Our final stop was at The Bottle Tree before we headed back to mum's place for some home cooked dinner.
Amanda's fever was gone but her cough is now full of phlegm and has running nose too. She has difficulty sleeping well when she cough. So I elevated her with my pillow and it seemed to make her feel better. Its the first time she has cough which had phlegm and its really xin ku plus she do not know how to spit out the phlegm. Hope she gets well soon.

At Bottle Tree. Was amazed by the little fishes.
