When I was preggy, we thought about what name shall we name our baby. Upon knowing the gender of baby, I started browsing through websites for baby names. Gosh! There are so many from alphabet A to Z that I was lost. Most people like to name their kids starting with the same alphabet..........and I thought maybe I shall name my number 1 beginning with alphabet A, number 2 with alphabet B and so on...
Hence, I did a search for names beginning with alphabet A and Amanda just stood out among all and its meaning is "worthy of love". Sounds great to me! However, Daddy thought he wanted a name with the meaning of smart or clever. I did a search again and the name that I found having this meaning and starting with A are all weird! To my horror, Daddy thought otherwise, he wanted the name "Akira" or "Akemi"!!??
No doubt their meaning matches, but I do not want to name my baby after a electrical brand "Akira", nor do I want her to be named after a bedsheet brand "Akemi" although a Taiwan model is also called Akemi. Haizz Men! To persuade him, I quote him the example of his two nieces whom where named with names with the meaning of quiet and active respectively. The one who was named with meaning of quiet is really talkative and the other one is really quiet, thus we better not name our girl with meaning of "clever, smart", lest it backfired ahaha.
In the end I gotten my way and saved my girl from future possible ridicule. Till now, I am still not sure if Daddy really think those names are great or just trying to be funny......... ya Daddy?
